Chatham Waters, Kent

Q+A were instructed jointly by Montpelier Estates Ltd and Peel L&P Developments Ltd to secure planning permission for a 74 bed, 4 storey residential care home on land at Gillingham Gate Road, Chatham Waters.

The site forms part of the Chatham Waters waterfront redevelopment which consists of the regeneration of an extensive area of brownfield land (14.6ha) adjacent to the Chatham Docks to provide a mixed-use development and community.
We worked closely with Peel L&P who had submitted a concurrent application for the third phase of the regeneration of the area comprising 237 affordable dwellings, the creation of a new public realm alongside the care home proposals.  As part of the development, it was important to ensure that the design of the proposed care home complemented Peel L&P’s proposals but also were consistent with the established design principles for the regeneration of the area generally.

The approved scheme will be readily assimilated into the emerging high quality urban environment, offering a valuable health care facility for the benefit of the community.
