Kings High School, Warwick

Q+A Planning secured planning permission in 2020 for the redevelopment of the former premises of Kings High School in Warwick town centre for 118 residential units across four separate sites. The development included the sensitive refurbishment and extension of Listed Buildings and other heritage assets within the Warwick town centre conservation area together as well as carefully designed new building development.

Due to the prominent nature of the site and the complexity of the design solution, the project required extensive engagement with local stakeholders and with the Local Planning Authority to ensure the development provided an overall heritage benefit to the area. As part of the supporting documentation, Q+A Planning highlighted the clear benefits of the scheme, including the site specific benefits of removing a number of 20th/21st century unsympathetic extensions to the Listed Buildings as well as wider benefits to the town centre through the provision of much needed housing on a sustainable brownfield site.
